Sinbad and the Eye of The Tiger 1977

While not a patch on the previous Golden Voyage of Sinbad, the film none the less has some very creditable model ship effects.

Sinbad' and Zenobia's ship models were roughly 5 feet (1.5m) long and along with the rest of the miniature sets were again photographed at the Malta tank and studios at Rinella.

Golden Voyage of Sinbad 1973

The Golden Voyage of Sinbad was my favorite Ray Harryhausen film growing up, even surpassing the earlier Jason and the Argonauts which was my all time favorite film until this release.

It had all the ingredients of a great fantasy film, a good cast and some very good ship miniature work along with all the other scenic miniatures and the brilliant stop motion animated creatures.

There are two miniature ships in the movie, Sinbad's and that belonging to the Koura the villain played sympathetically by Tom Baker.

The ship models were shot at the Malta tank facility (see this post for more on tanks), while the rest of the miniatures were shot at the Verona studios near Madrid where the live action scenes were shot.
